Nowadays when we receive a phone call, we almost always know who is calling. In fact, if it’s not a name or number I know, I don’t even answer. And so when I make a phone call, I pretty much know that the person I am calling knows it’s coming from me. So if they don’t pick up, if they don’t answer, I can assume they are either too busy, or maybe just too annoyed to talk to me.

Sepsis is a serious condition in which the body responds improperly to an infection. The infection-fighting processes turn on the body, causing the organs to work poorly. Sepsis may progress to septic shock.

This is my story. I'd written this long ago awaiting this day. Then yesterday happened - and I had to revisit these words for myself. But they still ring true. I hope they find you in your need as well.

Do you ever feel like you are invisible … to your spouse, to your co-workers, to your children, to friends, even to God? Have you ever felt like God ignores your prayers?

Anne had this bad dream. She dreamed she saw an open grave, and in her heart, she knew it was her own. Fear gripped her in the darkness. Then she heard a voice say, “Don’t look down. Look up!”

Do you ever feel like even with all the prayers and tears, that you might be missing something – missing  that for which you are asking because you’re not quite getting it right?  Well, I have. And I would say that 99% of the time...

Sometimes we recite prayers. Sometimes we blurt out prayers. Sometimes we silently pray. Sometimes our tears pray. Sometimes we’re thankful. Sometimes we’re desperate. Sometimes we pray in song...

Have you ever stood at the edge of the beach where the waves move in over your feet and beyond, and then back out again? It can be difficult to stay standing. If you stay there long enough for a few waves to go back and forth, you find that your feet have now sunk up to your ankles.

Every so often in our lives something will happen that we have simply no control over. We haven’t done anything wrong. We are not being punished. There’s a situation for which we can “do” nothing.

Each of us has a sphere of influence. Oh yes you do too! Large or small, God has given each a sphere of influence. Think of the people you come in contact with - spouse, children, grandchildren, neighbor, the checkout girl at the market, the co-worker who drives you crazy...
